Japanese Slipper

An equal-parts shaken sour of melon liqueur, orange liqueur and lemon juice, vividly green and sweet-tart.

How to Make It

  1. Chill a cocktail glass.
  2. Add the melon liqueur, orange liqueur and lemon juice to a shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake hard until the outside of the shaker frosts.
  4. Double strain into the chilled glass and garnish with a melon ball.

A honeydew melon ball or a maraschino cherry

The Story

Despite the name, the drink is Australian: it is credited to a Melbourne restaurant bar in the 1980s, and takes its name from Midori, the Japanese melon liqueur that gives it both its colour and its character.
