Lumistra
Lumistra is an iPhone remote for Bluetooth RGB LED strips. It talks to the small Bluetooth controller on your strip without the app that came in the box: power, brightness, colors, whites, the controller’s built-in effects, moods, saved scenes and an on/off timer, for one strip or several at once. Before it connects for good, a short flash test lights the strip red, green and blue so you can see which command set your controller understands. No account, no ads.
Lumistra is an iPhone remote for Bluetooth RGB LED strips: it controls the strip's own Bluetooth controller (ELK-BLEDOM, Triones, LEDBLE and similar) without the maker's app, after a red-green-blue flash test confirms the right commands.
Features
- Recognizes Bluetooth LED strip controllers that advertise as ELK-BLEDOM, ELK-BLE, ELK-BTC, MELK, ELK-BLEDOB, LEDBLE-01, LEDBLE, Triones, LEDBlue, Dream~, QHM-, JACKYLED and LED-, across six command families
- Flash test: because one Bluetooth name can hide different commands, Lumistra lights the strip red, green and blue with each candidate family and you confirm which one flashed; the match is saved for next time
- Free: power, brightness, 10 preset colors, the first 4 built-in effects, 4 moods (Movie night, Reading, Sunset, Party), a demo strip that works without any device, and a Bluetooth packet console that shows every command byte by byte
- Lumistra Pro adds a color wheel, six white tones from 2200 K to 6500 K, every built-in effect with speed (22 on ELK controllers, 20 on LEDnet), saved scenes, Together mode that drives several strips at once even on different controllers, colors from a photo, and an on/off timer written into the controller's own clock
- Reads the on/off state, color and brightness back from LEDnet (Triones-type) controllers
- No account, no ads; strip names, scenes and timers stay on the iPhone; photos never leave the device; location is not requested
Questions
Is there an app that controls an ELK-BLEDOM LED strip without the original app?
Yes. Lumistra connects to the strip's Bluetooth controller directly. It lists nearby controllers by their Bluetooth name, runs a short red-green-blue flash test to find the command set that works, and then gives you power, brightness, colors, effects and moods. Close the maker's app first, because the controller accepts one phone at a time.
Can one app control LED strips from different brands at the same time?
Lumistra Pro's Together mode sends one command to every connected strip, translating it for each controller family, for example an ELK-BLEDOM strip behind the TV and a Triones strip under the bed. Built-in effects are matched to the closest effect of the same kind on the other controller.
Why does my LED strip connect but not change color?
Many controllers share a Bluetooth name but expect different commands. Lumistra's flash test tries each candidate command family and asks you which one lit the strip, so a matching name alone is never taken as proof. If nothing flashes, the controller is not supported yet and Lumistra opens a support email with its name; the packet console shows exactly what was sent.
Does Lumistra work with Wi-Fi or infrared LED strips?
No. Lumistra controls Bluetooth LE controllers only. Wi-Fi controllers and strips that only have an infrared remote are not supported, and addressable (pixel) effects are not available because these strips light in one color at a time.
Is Lumistra made by the LED strip manufacturer?
No. Lumistra is an independent app and is not affiliated with controller makers or their apps. Bluetooth names are listed only to describe compatibility.
Which controllers work
Lumistra recognizes controllers that show up in Bluetooth as ELK-BLEDOM, ELK-BLE, ELK-BTC, ELK-BULB, MELK, ELK-BLEDOB, ELK-BLEDOM0E, LEDBLE-01, LEDBLE, Triones, LEDBlue, Dream~, QHM-, JACKYLED or LED-. The same name can hide different electronics, so a matching name alone is never taken as proof: the flash test decides. If nothing lights up, that controller is not supported yet. Wi-Fi controllers, strips that only have an infrared remote and addressable (pixel) effects are not supported.
Lumistra is an independent app. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by the makers of these controllers or their apps; their Bluetooth names are listed only to describe compatibility. We cannot test every controller on the market, so we do not promise that a particular strip will respond.
If it does not connect
- Close the maker’s app first: most controllers accept only one phone at a time.
- Keep the strip powered and the iPhone close to the controller.
- Check that Bluetooth access for Lumistra is on in iOS Settings.
- Still nothing? The flash test screen opens an email with the controller’s Bluetooth name. The packet console in the app shows every command byte by byte; pasting it into the email helps us look into it.
