Weißer Spritzer (G'spritzter) Recipe
Half crisp Austrian white wine, half sparkling mineral water — the country's everyday drink, dry, light and endlessly refreshing.

Ingredients
- Dry white wine (Grüner Veltliner)125 ml
- Sparkling mineral water125 ml
How to Make It
- Chill both the wine and the mineral water thoroughly.
- Pour the cold white wine into a wine glass or tumbler.
- Top with an equal measure of sparkling mineral water.
- Stir once gently and serve straight away, without ice.
Garnish
None, though a slice of lemon is sometimes added.
The Story
The spritzer grew out of the simple Austrian habit of lengthening local white wine with soda water. A 'Sommerspritzer' takes more water, a 'Winterspritzer' more wine.
