Rum and cola sharpened by fresh lime — that squeeze of citrus is what separates it from a plain rum and coke.

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  2. Build the white rum and the fresh lime juice over the ice.
  3. Top with cold cola.
  4. Stir gently and garnish with a lime wedge.

The Story

The drink is associated with Havana around the turn of the twentieth century, once cola reached the island, and takes its name from the Cuban independence slogan '¡Cuba libre!'.
