What Does Dreaming of a Maggot Mean?
Traditional Interpretation
According to traditional interpretation (Ibn Sirin, al-Nabulsi), seeing a maggot in a dream is mostly associated with a small loss or damage to one's goods and belongings, or with sorrow and grief coming from one's close circle; small maggots are taken as a sign of daughters. On the other hand, maggots coming out of the body or mouth are interpreted as troubles, worries, and grief moving away, a sense of relief.
Psychological View
In the modern psychological approach, a maggot can represent an anxiety quietly growing within, a suppressed discomfort, or the envy and gossip in one's surroundings. At the same time, because of the larva's potential for transformation, it can also symbolize a beginning that is not yet mature but open to growth, and a process of inner purification.
